Early in childhood, whether it was because I was singing Bangles and Blondie songs into a garden hose or collecting bird bones to label and reassemble, it was clear that I was different from the other little girls on the playground. Self-expression, curiosity and freedom of spirit are the driving forces behind everything I set out to do.
I was fortunate enough to have parents who sacrificed willingly so that I could be classically trained in piano and ballet. I continued my arts education with many forms of dance, music, a splash of theatre, and creative writing. I wrote my first poem at 10 and short-story at 11. My first song the same year. I joined my first band when I was 14 and ever since it's been variations on a theme.
You may find me playing with bands Teen Getaway, Delicate Cutters or Rising Road, or you may find me singing Cole Porter or Gabriel Faure. Language and music are my natural inclination. In my free time, I read, write, perform and generally do anything that sounds new and exciting. Pavo was a natural step in the progression of my creative life. I look forward to the world that is opening up to us in Birmingham!
