When first settling into a performance of the Alabama Ballet at The Library Theatre, you may at first feel self-conscious and overwhelmed. After all, it isn't often you find yourself a breath away from these austere creatures. Yet, at The Library Theatre's 250 seat house, you're allowed to be so close to the dancers as to hear every flutter of tulle, the quiet land of each Jeté, pas, to see the sinew of every working muscle of the ballerina. It feels candid. As though you've been allowed a glimpse behind the curtain.
But this three-night performance isn't just a treat for audiences - it's a treat for the dancers too.
